Taiwan Women's Art Association (TWAA) in collaboration with the National Taitung Living Art Center (TTCSEC), National Museum of Prehistory (NMP), and Taitung Art Museum co-organized “Love and Hope — 2022 World Women's Art Festival (愛與希望2022世界女藝匯流藝術祭)” which will be held at three venues from June 25 onwards. The other special exhibition "WOMEN: From Prehistory to HERstory (我們/Women的歷史之前與之後)," hosted by NMP and TWAA, was launched on the same day.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture Hsiao Tsung-huang (蕭宗煌) said that NMP has been closed for two years for renovation, and the special exhibition "WOMEN: From Prehistory to HERstory" serves as a preview exhibition for the newly renovated NMP building. The exhibition not only corresponds with the theme of "Love and Hope" but also reminds us to get rid of the patriarchy in art, and to focus more on female artists and “HERstory.”

Hsiao also stated that the special exhibition invited 18 female artists to create works based on the topic of "Art and Archeology: Gender, Mythology, and Technology," to look back on women in history and interpret from women’s perspective through mixed media. The exhibition consists of three major subjects: "Indigenous people and ecology," "Recreating gender and history," and "The crossover of mythology and technology."

The chairperson of TWAA and "Love and Hope — 2022 World Women’s Art Festival" Jun T. Lai (賴純純) said that the art festival starts with "us" reflecting and responding to the present time and space. Lai believes that by integrating Taiwanese women artists and interacting with international women art groups, the event could spread love and give courage to people to let go of the past and start a new chapter in life.
