Organized by the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the "Refinement & Reflection—Kang Tai-sen Narrative Photography Exhibition (淬鍊.省思—康台生敘事影像攝影展)" will be launched from Aug. 17 to Sep. 28.
Divided into four themes, the solo exhibition features 123 photographic works in 69 groups, including Kang Tai-sen’s early works, and new works that have not been released in recent years. His exhibited works include a creation that he has been creating for over 30 years and many photos that were taken with a phone. Also, he tells stories by arranging his photographic works into series and assemblages, conveying inner warmth and witty thoughts to the audience through rich color layers and thoughtful composition. Through the exhibition, the audience can better understand his imagination and thinking in his creative ideas.
Born in 1951 in Chiayi, Kang previously served as the dean of the College of Arts and director of the Graduate School of Design at National Taiwan Normal University as well as the dean of the College of Art at Fu Jen Catholic University. Dedicated to the field of photography for more than 40 years, Kang has held 17 solo exhibitions and was invited to exhibit his new works at several art exhibitions and photography festivals at home and abroad. He likes to create narrative photography. Some of his works are unpretentious but provide a true and accurate record of a scene.
