The National Taitung Living Art Center collaborated with National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and launched "Women's Power of Art From The Eastern Island—Joint Exhibition of 5 Taitung Artists (傳。穎。秋。美–島東女藝力五人聯展)."
According to National Taitung Living Art Center, the five artists Chiang Mei-hui (江美惠), Lin Mei-hui (林美慧), Chieh Ju-ying(偕汝穎), Huang Chiu-siang (黃秋香), and Asali Sun (孫傳莉) either come from or live in Taitung, a place that has the most vibrant color and largeness of mind. In the exhibition, the artists will showcase the artistic creativity inspired by the ocean and mountains of Taitung in their preferred art mediums.
Born in Pingtung, Chiang worked at the National Taitung Junior College as an art teacher. She enjoys creating works with watercolor and oil paint and is adept at depicting indigenous and native cultures. Lin was born and raised on the East Coast of Taiwan. In addition to exploring multiple art styles, her interest in teaching, ancient books, and music made an influence on her works.
Chieh started by learning to sketch and paint with watercolor, then her art style turned from realistic to the pursuit of spiritual awareness. As drawing has been her favorite growing up in the urban jungle, Sun moved to Taitung in recent years to immerse herself in the rich colors of nature. Huang was born in Taitung Sugar Factory and spent her youth among the mountains and water. She has learned painting, calligraphy, and ceramic painting from various teachers and is still advancing her artistic skills.
"Women's Power of Art From The Eastern Island—Joint Exhibition of 5 Taitung Artists" which features 88 pieces of oil paintings, watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, calligraphy works, and pottery will run from March 15 to March 27. All are welcome to visit the exhibition at Wen-hua Gallery and the Culture Corridors of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
