Did You Know That…?

Lin Chun-yang is a cinematographer expert, besides having engaged in numerous production, he also has been nominated for Best Cinematography in the Golden Bell Awards several times.

Graduated from the Department of Communication Arts of Fu Jen Catholic University, Lin Chun-yang works in film productions as a freelancer. He usually plays the role of a film director or a cinematographer.

Lin made his directorial debut with “The Soul of the Bread (愛的麵包魂)” in 2012, a film he co-directed with Kao Pin-chuan (高炳權). In 2015, he directed “When Miracle Meets Maths (愛情算不算).” In 2019, besides co-directing the drama “Brave to Love (愛情白皮書)” with Lee Yun-chan (李芸嬋), he also directed the television series “The World Between Us (我們與惡的距離).” His latest productions include the Hakka period drama “Gold Leaf (茶金)” in 2021, as well as the thriller movie “Eye of the Storm (疫起)” and the political drama “Wave Makers (人選之人—造浪者)” in 2023.

His representative work – “The World Between Us” – is based on several real events that took place in Taiwan during the 2010s. It is the first Taiwanese television series that focuses on indiscriminate murder incidents. The series presents intertwined stories of various characters, including the aggressor and his family, the victim’s family, and the defense lawyer. It also addresses pressing issues such as ethical dilemmas faced by news media and discrimination against people with schizophrenia.

Lin’s another popular work, “Wave Makers,” is the first television series in Taiwan that highlights political advisors. Released in 2023, it raised heated discussions by shedding light on relatable issues such as elections, personal careers, women’s roles, and familial relationships. As a result, Lin won Best Directing for a Miniseries or Television Film at the Golden Bell Awards for this work. On the other hand, “Eye of the Storm,” produced in the same year, retells the story of the SARS pandemic in Taiwan in 2003. Lin was honored with the Best Director Award at the 25th Taipei Film Festival due to the film’s success.
