Actor | Bokeh Kosang

  • Chinese Name: 徐詣帆
  • Date of Birth: July 26, 1980
  • Did You Know That… ? Bokeh Kosang was reluctant at first to try out for what turned out to be his award-winning role in "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale.” He later did because his younger sister, who signed up for him secretly, said she already paid a registration fee.

Bokeh Kosang had performed in musical theater for years before making a debut on the big screen in 2011, when he played the role of a Taiwanese aborigine policeman during the Japanese rule in the epic movie "Seediq Bale.” His vivid depiction of Ichiro Hanaoka, a historic figure from the 1920s, won him the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2011 and kick-started his acting career.

Born a Truku aborigine in the eastern Taiwanese county of Hualien, Kosang was originally determined to become a singer. He showed a talent for singing and won many singing contests as a teenager.

However, he took the collegiate entrance exams four times before finally being admitted to the music department at the Chinese Culture University, where he majored in vocal music. Kosang began performing in plays and musicals when he was in college. He later went on to study vocal music in graduate school.

However, due to unstable incomes from acting and singing, Kosang had to work as a school bus driver until the Golden Horse Award brought him more opportunities to play in films and television dramas.

In 2011, Kosang was also nominated for the Golden Horse Award for Best New Performer.
