Did You Know That … ?

• Nan Yuan, a classic Chinese garden and complex hidden in the lush mountains of Hsinchu, was designed by the late architect Han Pao-teh (漢寶德).

• It was meant to be a gift for United Daily News founder Wang Ti-wu (王惕吾) from his two sons.

• The 27-hectare site was a private getaway shrouded in mystery until the publishing group decided to make it public in 2008.
