- The Lin Family Mansion and Garden were originally used as the lavish living quarters of the Lin family, one of the five most powerful clans during the Japanese rule of Taiwan.
- As one of the best preserved examples of Qing Dynasty architecture in Taiwan, the Lin family residence is listed as a three-star travel destination by Michelin.
- Its sister garden in Wufeng, Nantou County was destroyed by a 7.6-magnitude earthquake on Sept. 21, 1999.
