Did You Know That … ?
- Opened in December 2015, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum offers a 141-meter bridge, a manmade lake, and a stunning two-building museum designed by noted architect Kris Yao.
- Hollywood actor Jackie Chan was present at the opening ceremony of the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum. He was jokingly offered a commercial role to play a grand thief who made away with the museum's famed Jadeite Cabbage and Insects.
- Among the precious artworks on display are a ten-lobed lotus bowl from the Northern Song Period (960-1126); a Tibetan Buddhist sutra that is handwritten with gold ink and commissioned by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty in 1669; and a 15th century blue-and-white porcelain figurine of the Monkey King.
