Did You Know That … ?
- As one of Taiwan's leading theater troupes, Godot Theatre Company once vowed to make Taiwanese theater the "Broadway of the East.” More than 25 years since its first showing, the performance troupe remains a pioneer in its realm of choice.
- Godot's first large-scale Chinese-language musical "Cyrano de Bergerac,” adapted from French dramatist Edmond Rostand's 1897 classic play of the same name, is a NT$16 million-budget musical that debuted in 1995. The 14-show production included 28 original songs, 40 performances, a 60-plus stage crew, and live accompaniment by a 34-member string orchestra.
- Its 1997 rock musical production entitled "Kiss Me, Nana,” Taiwan's first-ever musical with a live band performance, took local musical theater to a new level and was so well received that Godot had to stage the show twice that year.
