Under the banner of "NOWism," Taipei Fashion Week and Taipei IN Style collaborated for the first time this year to showcase over 3,000 collections by Taiwanese designers and brands from Oct. 4 to 13.
Apart from a welcome gala and five theme shows, 16 brand shows and a special showcase of 60 domestic brands were also held, with Taiwanese and international designers and artists joining forces to stage exhibitions on textile innovations, unique brand aesthetics, and new talents in the field.
Taipei IN Style also invited many global buyers this year from Europe, Asia, and Southeast Asia to participate in the weeklong event in Taiwan.
The 2019 theme "NOWism" encapsulates the belief that "Taiwan's future is now," as the present is forged upon hard-won freedoms and the inheritance of diverse heritage and cultural legacies. Minister of Culture Cheng Li-chiun noted that fashion is part of culture, as it exists in daily life and can help broaden or mold one's perspective on the world and one's place in it.
The 2019 event ambassadors of Taipei Fashion Week were music artist 9m88, fashion blogger Molly Chiang (莫莉), actor Roy Chiu (邱澤), singer-songwriter Christine Fan (范瑋琪), model Annie Chen (陳庭妮), TV presenters Blackie Chen (陳建州) and Mickey Huang (黃子佼), and actress Lan Hsin-mei (藍心湄).
