NHRM hosts exhibition on Ukrainian Women’s stories during the war

On Feb. 24, 2022, Russia launched a "special military operation" against Ukraine. This de facto war escalated to a military conflict of the largest scale in Europe ever since World War II.

When the state of conflict has become a day-to-day reality, perseverance during wartime is not exclusively a trait of men. Women's unwavering presence can also be found as they fight on the front line, secure logistic supplies and give social support to those in need.

To give visibility of women's autonomy and diverse faces manifested in the Russo-Ukrainian War, the National Human Rights Museum (NHRM) of Taiwan and Museum of Women's and Gender History of Ukraine collaborated to present an exhibition titled “When Temporary Becomes the Ordinary: _/_Days of War for Ukrainian Women (當戰時成為日常: 烏克蘭女性的第_/_天),” which features writing and video recording by Ukrainian women. Their narrative will help the audience to have a sense of the cruelty of the war through individual woman's personal perspective and reflect on the severe setback for human rights as the result of war.
