The National Center of Photography and Images (NCPI) collected 176 contemporary photographic works by 23 artists of different generations and launched a special exhibition "Specularity / Reflexivity : Contemporary Image Arts after 1980s." The lineup of artists includes Ko Si-chi (柯錫杰), Chang Chao-tang (張照堂), Quo Ying-sheng (郭英聲), Chang Kuang-ho (章光和), Chiu Kuo-chun (邱國峻).
Revolving around two major themes "Specularity" and "Reflexivity," the exhibition aims to showcase the formation and transformation of contemporary visual art in Taiwan through the examination of trends during this long period of time. The exhibition breaks away from the norm by adopting creative forms of display such as interactive video installations to showcase the transformation of the trend of photography in Taiwan since the 1980s.
"Specularity: Contemporary Image Arts after 1980s" is on display from Apr. 20 through Aug. 21 at NCPI's Galleries 201-203; and "Reflexivity: Contemporary Image Arts after 1980s" is on display from May 19 through Sep. 11 at NCPI's Galleries 301-303 and 305.
