Central and local governments collaborate to promote culture and technology

This year, the Ministry of Culture collaborates with the Taoyuan City Government for the first time to launch the "2022 Ministry of Culture x Taoyuan Art x Technology (TAxT) Festival: THE WAY FORWARD," which features the collaboration between the central and the local governments in promoting culture and technology on a national scale, inviting the public to join in and experience a visual feast of technology and art. Culture Minister Lee Yung-te stated that the Taoyuan City Government launched the Taoyuan Art x Technology Festival (TAxT) in 2017, which brings together multiple objectives – internationalization, localization, deepening cultivation in schools, and a combination of industries.

Adopting "The Way Forward" as its theme, the festival highlights cross-disciplinary exchange between technology and art, while connecting the rich industrial resource in Taoyuan to craft the distinctive characteristics of the TAxT. The four main themes at the festival included “Generative Art X 5G Immersive Experience,” “Robotic Arms X Industrial Strategy,” “Digital Discourse Power X Circular Economy,” and “Apocalypse Eve X Experiments in Art and Technology,” showcasing technology art projects from Taiwan, the US, France, Japan and Hong Kong, while linking with local industries and technological research institutions to respond to global trends and topics with technology art and show the artistic energy of the digital era.

MOC has been supporting the development of technology art through nurturing talent, matching resources for domestic and foreign needs, and inviting research institutions to co-create with artists.

The 2022 Ministry of Culture x Taoyuan Art x Technology (TAxT) Festival: THE WAY FORWARD will run for a month until Oct.9 at Taoyuan Arts Center. In addition to the exhibition, there will be performances, talks, workshops, and a series of activities. For more information, please visit https://www.taxt.tw/.
