MOC recommends 28 tour routes to promote cultural tourism

To promote cultural tourism, the Ministry of Culture participated in this year's Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF) with the theme of "Let Culture Lead the Way (文化帶路)."

Based on the ten cultural tourism routes featured at last year’s ITF, the MOC expanded its cooperation with travel agencies this year and launched an itinerary that covers 28 routes, providing visitors with a unique cultural experience. Along the way, there will be artisans, craftsmen, and local culture and history experts serving as tour guides and leading groups or individuals through the journey to experience the diverse ethnic cultures as well as the arts and cultural activities of Taiwan.

MOC pointed out that the recommended routes stretch across 22 counties and cities with an aim to introduce the potential world heritage sites in Taiwan, cultural assets, multi-ethnic culture, performance arts culture, museums, craft culture, festival culture, and more, encouraging the public to join in and experience the charm of Taiwan.

Many of these routes allow one to understand more on the history of local industries and communities, such as taking a literary bike tour to learn more about the gold mining history of Ruifang, Houtong, and Jiufen; taking an in-depth historical tour in Chiayi and Tainan, visiting the sugar railway, salt fields and canals; touring the Akauw citadel (阿猴城) located at the foot of Tawu Mountain in Pingtung to learn more about the life of the Hakka, Indigenous Peoples, and new immigrants; as well as participating in a four-day museum camp for children.

During the travel fair from Nov. 4 to 7, visitors are welcome to purchase package tours at a special price on the first floor of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. For more information, please visit the official website.
