With support from the Taipei Cultural Center, KO Studio is proud to present "Transcendental Visions: Ko Si-Chi's Art Works," a retrospective exhibition of curated photographs by the late Ko Si-Chi, one of Taiwan's foremost photographers.
The internationally renowned Formosa Circus Art (FOCA) team will be performing in the Melbourne Fringe Festival from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15. Dubbed the "Cirque du Soleil" of Taiwan, FOCA was established in 2011.
The Taiwan Cultural Center in Japan has once again teamed up with Books Kinokuniya, one of Japan's largest bookstore chains. This year, the "Taiwan Book Fair" will be held at over 33 Books Kinokuniya locations throughout Japan.
Ministry Updates
Minister of Culture Shih Che received a 21-member delegation from the Federal Foundation for the Study of the Communist Dictatorship in Eastern Germany on Oct. 5. Minister Shih expressed appreciation towards the foundation.  
Spain-based professor Mireia Vargas-Urpí has won the 2023 PEN Català Translation Award for her Catalan translation of the novel “The Man with the Compound Eyes” by Taiwanese author Wu Ming-yi.
Noted Taiwanese opera musician Lin Zhu-an passed away on Oct. 8 at the age of 88. Minister of Culture Shih Che offered his condolences upon hearing this news and instructed the MOC to assist in applying for a posthumous presidential citation.
Cultural Features
Due to his mother’s work in a glass factory, glass had a great influence on Lin Yao-nung from a young age. He started working in a glass factory during high school and decided to learn glass sculpting at the age of fifteen. Since 2006, Lin has continuously experimented and created different glass artworks. 
An official building that became the seat of government for Taichung City under Japanese authorities, the Taichung Prefectural Hall went on to play the same role after the Japanese surrender that ended World War II and saw the city come under the authority of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
