2018 Creative Expo to reveal top cultural destinations of Taiwan

A total of ten themed cultural tracks highlighting Taiwan's aesthetics, creativity, and cultural diversity will take travelers on a creative journey throughout Taiwan during the month of April.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the cultural tracks will be launched by the 2018 Creative Expo Taiwan, which will return to Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Huashan 1914 Creative Park, and EXPO Dome in Taipei this year from April 18 through 22.

Under ten themes spanning music, outdoor workouts, crafts, fashion, film, nature, food, and social activities, the cultural tracks will introduce 77 unique spots and stores selected by ten professionals including expo curator Wang Yao-pang (王耀邦), CN Flower founder Alfie Lin (凌宗湧), 5% Design Action founder Kevin Yang (楊振甫), and CEO Grace Wong (汪麗琴) of VVG (好漾集團) for the public to experience the unique aesthetics of everyday Taiwan.

In addition, thirteen cities and counties will also curate their own respective cultural tracks encompassing a total of 146 cultural destinations across Taiwan to promote the Creative Expo as well as Taiwan's local industries, cultural tourism, and cultural and creative vitality.

Creative bases, studios, stylish shops, factories, and local brands will partner and cross over with each other to promote cultural products. Related information will also be shared through mobile applications, Instagram, and Facebook.

Under the theme "Body Knowledge" this year, the 2018 Creative Expo Taiwan will explore senses of the human body and how proprioception influences humanity’s comprehension and interpretation of originality, aesthetics, and culture.

The expo will also offer exhibitions, bazaars, and film screenings to help visitors to learn about Taiwan's unique brand of design.

Culture Vice Minister Lee Lien-chuan (李連權) noted that the Ministry of Culture sought to strengthen the cultural content of Creative Taiwan Expo last year by seeking to interpret diverse views of different eras, cultures, and aesthetics as well as stimulate creativity and innovation through its annual curatorial theme.

Last year, the curatorial theme of the Creative Taiwan Expo – "Cultural Explosion" – was recognized by Japan’s Good Design Award 100.
