MOC announces the inauguration of architecture center in 2026

In conjunction with the celebration of the International Museum Day on May 18, Culture Minister Shih Che announced the establishment of an architecture center at the National Taiwan Museum Railway Department Park, which is expected to be inaugurated in 2026, at a press conference on May 14.

International Museum Day, initiated in 1977 and held annually on May 18, is coordinated by the International Council of Museums. This year’s celebration emphasizes the theme “Museums of Education and Research.” The Ministry of Culture collaborates with the Ministry of Education, the National Palace Museum, and the Chinese Association of Museums to present various exhibitions and activities nationwide to mark the occasion.

During the press conference, Minister Shih stated that the quantity and quality of a country’s museums reflects its cultural prowess. Following that, he announced the forthcoming establishment of the architecture center at the National Taiwan Museum Railway Department Park, with an inauguration expected in 2026. He expressed his hope that through this new center, people can witness the evolution of Taiwanese architecture and get a deeper understanding of architectural aesthetics and design.
