NMTL launches virtual 'A Voyage into Infinity: The Exhibition of Ocean Literature in Taiwan'

In conjunction with World Ocean Day, National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL) launched "A Voyage into Infinity: The Exhibition of Ocean Literature in Taiwan (航向浩瀚──臺灣海洋文學特展)" on June 8, presenting Taiwan's most important ocean-themed literature and thought, which convey a profound respect for the ocean.

The exhibition is under "Literature Pandemic Prevention, Gather in the Cloud (文學抗疫,雲端相遇)," a program which launches a literary exhibition every month, offering a cloud reading experience as an addition to staying at home.

Its Facebook fan page also runs a special raffle to foster the interaction and participation of grown-ups and children. NMTL will continue to launch 10 online exhibitions in the upcoming months with topics such as indigenous oral literature taking place in August, and children literature during summer. By swiping the screen or using a mouse, one will be able to engage with literature while confined at home during the pandemic.

NMTL pointed out that the "Virtual Museum of Taiwan Literature (文學虛擬博物館)" which it established offers rich content, including virtual reality, literary history, literary tour, and a joint authors’ platform. For virtual reality, visitors may use a VR app on their phone to observe museum collections with 720-degree rotation as well as clicking on exhibited objects for detailed description so as to foster a greater appreciation for literature.
