Launched by the National Taiwan Museum (NTM), the special exhibition "On the Cusps of Epidemic Crisis (疫觸即發-百年島嶼戰疫特別展)" will be on view at the Railway Department Park, NTM, from Sep. 28, 2021 to Nov. 6, 2022, highlighting Taiwan's past achievements in epidemic prevention and modern transformation process.

The displayed objects feature collections since the Japanese occupation, such as Ukiyo-e, pictorial, photo, scroll, and the Han people’s folk arts, coupled with historical materials during the pre-war and post-war period, as well as other materials ranging from public interviews, and anti-epidemic products.

Under the theme "epidemic prevention," the exhibition consists of four major themes, such as "In the Waning Years of The Qing Dynasty, The Conquest for Taiwan Started with Battling Epidemics (清末戰役,入臺須先戰疫)," and "[Unsanitary OUT! and Civilizational Enlightenment IN!] ─Initial Exposures to Modern Civilization and Pain Period (【不衛生OUT!文明開化IN】—文明初體驗,及其陣痛)."

The other themes, titled "In Post-War Taiwan, A Long Road to Sanitation and Epidemic Prevention (戰後臺灣衛生防疫漫長路)" and "From SARS to COVID-19: Major Epidemics of the 21st Century in Taiwan (從SARS到COVID-19:21世紀臺灣的重大傳染病經驗)," feature exhibits on the process of Taiwan's health system construction, the SARS epidemic in 2003, as well as the current COVID-19 pandemic.
