Specialization

Makie painting (蒔繪) is one of the major decorative techniques in Japanese lacquer craft. Makie painting requires patterns drawn on the lacquer surface in the first place; then gold, silver, or color powder in a straw tube should be sprayed on the surface through mesh holes of different sizes. The painting portrays gradient colors and the powder will then be polished and fixed to reveal its glamour sheen.

Wang's second son Wang Xianmin (王賢民, 1950~) and third son Wang Xianzhi (王賢志, 1952~) have inherited his company, Mei Yen Lacquer Art Co., Ltd (美研工藝公司).
