Power and Beauty: Experience Mixed Reality with HoloLens 2

The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) is incorporating the use of holographic mixed reality glasses in its museum tours to enhance the experience of visitors and allow the public to better understand the museum’s collections.

The first event "Power and Beauty: Experience Mixed Reality with HoloLens 2" showcases works from the "Exercise Series" of sculptor Fu Tian-sheng (蒲添生), as well as Chen Hsia-yu's (陳夏雨) sculpture titled "Laborer (勞動者)."

The "Exercise Series" was inspired by Olympic women's artistic gymnastics. The works showed the strength and beauty of the human body in motion. For a more precise and fluid interpretation, the curatorial team uses motion capture technology to record the National University and College Athletic Games gold medalist Mai Liu Hsiang-han's (麥劉湘涵) movement. This is the first time in Taiwan that the technologies of advanced 3D scanning, hologram and motion capture are combined and presented through the MR smart glasses.

Visitors can view the sculptures through MR smart glasses to see them in 3D. With simple hand gestures, visitors can also zoom in to see the works in greater detail.
