NCPI holds seminar on contemporary photography trend

The National Center of Photography and Images (NCPI) will hold a seminar on February 12 at the Taipei Galleries of NCPI during the exhibition period of "Accumulation/Embodiment: 2022 National Art Exhibition R.O.C. Photography (聚現:111年全國美術展攝影類)," inviting Yao Jui-chung (姚瑞中), Ma Li-chun (馬立群), and Albert Huang (黃建亮), experts with various identities as curators, artists, and photographers to participate. They will discuss the trend of contemporary Taiwanese photography creations and the vitality of the photography culture.

The speakers have been observing the development of Taiwanese photography art and have been deeply involved in creating photographic works. They will share how photography communities exchange their ideas. For example, there was an event before the pandemic called Photo ONE (專家面對面) which gathered expert photographers and photo critics to communicate and exchange feedback. New-generation photographers were attracted to join so they can get professional suggestions and learn more unique and diverse perspectives from their peers.

At the same time, the speakers will share their viewpoints of photographers’ lives from long-term observations and in-depth interviews. For instance, Yao has been editing and publishing the PHOTO-LOGUES (攝影訪談輯) which focuses on dialogues with local photographers. Ma has been shooting the documentary Photo Taiwan (有影台灣) which portrays the creative process of intergenerational photographers. Through those precious records, they hope to document the details and trends of contemporary photography.

Winning works of the 2022 National Art Exhibition R.O.C. under the photography section will be exhibited until February 28. For more information, please visit the official website of NCPI.
