The 2014 Taipei International Book Exhibition

The 22nd Taipei International Book Exhibition took place from Feb. 5 to 10 at Exhibition Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center. This year, a total of 648 publishers from 68 countries and regions around the world participated in the 6-day event. The annual fair, which was jointly opened by Culture Minister Lung Ying-tai, Vice President Wu Den-yih, and exhibitors of the themed pavilions, successfully presented Taiwan as an exchange platform for publications and cultural knowledge in Asia.

Taiwan's publishing industry, from printing to distribution, is full of diverse characteristics. This year’s book exhibition has established a section for independent publishers to highlight the cultural output from local communities.

The printing section also showcased printing products with high quality and excellent designs from Taiwan. This has helped to attract international publishers to cooperate with Taiwan and print quality books and posters to sell throughout the world.

This year’s book exhibition has attracted publishers from the theme countries of Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. The participation and support of the Asia Pacific Publishers Association has helped to cement the Taipei book fair as an important publishing platform, allowing for Chinese-language communities to gain a wider understanding of publication trends in other Asian countries through the fair.
