A solo exhibition by Taiwanese painter Chiu Kuei is open now at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan. This exhibition is taking place at the TECRO in Tokyo, running now until Dec. 14. 
Taiwanese artist Leigh Wen's solo exhibition titled "The Four Elements of Leigh Li-Yun Wen" opens in the Fremin Gallery in New York. Besides showcasing her signature themes of earth, air, water, and fire, it also features her newly created works.
Kettle's Yard, one of the museums of the University of Cambridge, is hosting an art exhibition titled "Making New Worlds: Li Yuan-chia & Friends." It showcases the artworks of Li Yuan-chia and his influence on the artscene in the U.K. 
Ministry Updates
The National Museum of Taiwan Literature unveiled its latest exhibition titled "Shining Stars of Modernism - American and Taiwan Literature" on Dec. 1, featuring works from American modernist writers from the 1920s to 1950s.  
Noted photographer Hou Shur-tzy passed away on Dec. 3 at the age of 61. Culture Minister Shih Che expressed his sincere condolences upon hearing this news. He commended Hou's devotion to speaking out for justice and the disadvantaged. 
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts revealed the latest additions to the book series "My Home, My Art Museum: Biographies of Taiwanese Artists" and the DVD collection "Documentaries of Distinguished Taiwanese Artists" on Dec. 4.  
Cultural Features
Cheng Ching-wen was one of the first-generation Taiwanese writers of the post-WWII era. Specializing in writing about life in a rapid-changing country, Cheng produced roughly 300 short stories and three novels. His seminal collection "Three-legged Horse" won the Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize.
The Taipei Post Office was built in 1898 as a two-story wooden building in a Japanese style. It was destroyed by a fire in February 1913 and a temporary building was constructed on the same site in November of the same year. In 1928, Japanese architect Toshikazu Kuriyama was commissioned to design a new post office.
