The 43rd edition of the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) will be staged from Oct. 12 to Nov. 5. Films from Taiwan "Be With Me" and "A Girl Out of the Country" are nominated at the HIFF.
The Oku-Noto Triennale 2023 is now open, presenting Taiwanese art team Luxury Logico's installation, "Home Whispering." Held in the Suzu City of the Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, this Triennale is curated by famed curator Fram Kitagawa.
Organized by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, "On the Road to Freedom – A Special Exhibition on Taiwanese Literature" is open at the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague. This exhibition will also tour in Slovakia and Hungary.

The ICOM COMCOL 2023 Taiwan Annual Conference concluded on Oct. 26. Museum workers from 27 countries joined the conference in Taipei and they collectively resolved to establish contemporary collecting practices that are human-centric.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the 14th Golden Comic Awards & Connection+ took place in the Taipei New Horizon on Oct. 26. This year, comic researcher Hung Teh-ling was honored with the Special Contribution Award.

The winners of the 2023 Taiwan Literature Awards for Books were revealed on Oct. 30. Among 30 works that were selected as the finalists, Chen Lieh's "The Book of Wreckage" came out on top as the Annual Golden Grand Laurel Award winner. 
Cultural Features
Sauniaw Tjuveljevelj is the first female inheritor of the Paiwan mouth and nose flute tradition. She has been nominated multiple times for the Golden Melody Awards for Best Indigenous Singer and Best Indigenous Album. In 2011, she was recognized by the Pingtung County Government as a preserver of the art.

The Lin family was one of five major families in Taiwan during Japanese rule and made important contributions to society, education, and culture. The Wufeng Lin Family Home Garden refers to a complex of gardens and housing in the Wufeng area of Taichung. It was the largest traditional residential housing complex in Taiwan.
